- 概要
- We conduct the first large language model analysis of M&A conference call transcripts to study how M&As add value. Managers pitch virtually all deals as both cost cutting and revenue enhancing, with the most common value sources being reduced G&A, real estate, or supply chain costs and increased revenues via cross-selling or geographic expansion. More focus on cost-cutting (as opposed to revenue enhancement) strongly predicts both M&A announcement returns and multi-year net income growth for the combined entity. In sum, we unlock new information from how managers discuss M&As with investors, highlighting new sources of both short- and long-run value.
