India in the Current State of the Global Economy
Speaker
Eri IKEDA (Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology)
Abstract
The global economy appears to be once again set to experience a recession soon, mainly due to the rapid monetary tightening in the U.S., commodity price soaring, and repeated lockdowns in China. India however is expected to grow by 8.2% in 2022 according to a recent projection by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Against such background, it will present and discuss the past, current and future direction of the Indian economy from a macroeconomic perspective, with a particular focus on the operation of business cycles and the global structural shift.
