Topic
The Relation Between Human Resource Management (HRM) and Skill Formation: The Case Study of Bangladesh in South Asia
Speaker
Tomohiro UCHIDA (College of Foreign Studies, Kansai Gaidai University)
Abstract
The main purpose of this invited speech is to argue about the skill formation on which the system of human resource management gives influence. My speech will be made on the basis of my previous five research papers, which were published in 2005 to 2018. I sample both Japanese firms and local firms operating in Bangladesh, one of the least developed economies in Asia. As the analytical framework, I propose three hypotheses and a conceptualization related to the intellectual skills and human resource management (HRM). HRM is composed of two systems. The first is the system of personal management; the wage system, the promotion range according to educational background, the ways of recruiting labors, the criteria for promotion, and the turnover rate of labors. The second is the system of production management; the extent of job rotation, the inspection capability of labor, and the redistribution of operations and the allocation of labor. I also will identify the relation between skill formation and organizational behavior such as job satisfaction and commitment to firms.
