Title

The First Public Panel Data on Regional Inequality in Japan Based on the Family Income and Expenditure Survey

Abstract

Several studies utilize Gini coeffcients in Japan. However, their estimation has some problems with the methodology and the based dataset. So we estimate the Gini coeffcients and other related variables in the prefectural capitals from microdata offered by the Bureau of Statistics of Japan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The estimated dataset is original and valuable in the literature.
