Internationalization of the Chinese Private Enterprises: Theoretical Analysis and Case Study 中国企業の国際化：理論的分析と事例研究 |
| 概要： (Abstract) |
Both the "going out for development" strategy launched by the Chinese government and the upsurge of the outward direct investment related to the internationalization of the Chinese firms in recent few years are main concerns among the academic researchers and policy consultants in international economics or emerging market economics. In this presentation, author chooses the Chinese private enterprises as a clew of analysis on the outward flow of FDI from China and internationalization of the Chinese firms. The core theme of the presentation is supported with three analytical works. Starting with a general check of both international and domestic environment in five aspects encountered by the Chinese enterprises in their newly started exploration of internationalization currently, author made some expectations on the trend of the issue. Then the core theme of the analysis is transferred to the theoretical issue. Based on the critical comparison between the two sorts of realities, i.e. those had been taken to back the old theories on FDI flow and firm's internationalization, and those the Chinese POEs encounter currently, author concludes that the old theories or paradigm are inability in explaining the new realities the Chinese POEs encounter. In the last, based on the study of the typical cases of the POEs' practice, an alternative paradigm is suggested. It is SIL paradigm, being a revised version of John Dunning's eclectic paradigm. Author suggests that the reliable route for the Chinese POEs' internationalization would be one with stressing market orientation in their early stages of "going out". |
