Three Great U.S. Disinflations |
| 概要： （Abstract） |
We analyze evidence of the transparency and credibility of three U.S. disinflationary episodes--the 1870s, the early 1920s, and the early 1980s. We then formulate a DGE model with imperfect information that matches all three episodes, and we perform counterfactual simulations that illustrate the role of transparency, credibility, and gradualism in determining the output costs of disinflation. |
