本論文は輸出国と輸入国のそれぞれに多数の企業が存在する２国モデルにおいて、両国の戦略的貿易政策において、政策決定のタイミングを内生的に決める問題を扱うものである。この問題は両国にそれぞれ１企業が存在するケースで
Collie (1994)が扱っており、そこでは輸入国政府が先手として関税を課し、輸出国政府は後手として輸出補助金を与えるという結果が得られている。本論の分析ではこの結論が輸入国の企業数が輸出国の企業数と等しいか大きい場合において成立すること示され、さらに輸入国の企業数が輸出国のそれより３以上小さい時はこのCollie
(1994)の結果と逆の結果が得られることが示される。 This paper analyzes the endogenous timing in a strategic trade policy game under the two-country model with many firms in both countries where all firms play as a Cournot oligopolist in the market of an importing country. We investigate what policy and at what time the government of each country would set in the circumstances where the number of firms differ between an importing country and an exporting country. If the firms of the exporting country is greater at least 3 in number than that of the importing country, the government of the exporting country moves first as a leader and imposes the export tax and the government of the other country moves second as a follower and imposes the import tariff. This result totally opposes the result of Collie (1994) who assumes that the number of firms in each country is only 1. Our analysis reveals that the result of Collie (1994) carries over only in the case where the number of firms in the importing country is equal to or larger than that of the exporting country. |
