Computer Laboratory
The Computer Laboratory offers network and database service and supports research activities.
SSL-VPN service and Web Mail service provide the same environment in RIEB even when research staff are outside the campus.
Since 1995, we have put information about seminar schedule, discussion paper and other matters on WWW site.
All services are currently available for not only RIEB staff but also staff members of other departments.
International Economic and Business Database
We enhance international economy and business datebase and develop and operate WebDB software which makes it accessible.
The 60 million date accumulated in MySQL datebase on Linux server can be extracted with WWW by intuitive operation and the result is able to be downloaded to PC in EXCEL file.
By using WWW, it is available 24 hours everyday and is in widespread use of research staff in other departments.

Computer System
As secuity measures, our network is connected to KHAN, a campus network of Kobe University, through the firewall and maintain our safety.
The Virus protection is also important, so we do double-check all the PCs with mail gateway server for the virus detection system and anti-virus software.
All data in the hard disk drive of 60 PCs are automatically backuped in case of system failures. If anything should happen, we can recover all the documents.
Computing Server
RIEB staff are able to do research efficiently using various software on the computing server , which was introduced in fiscal year 2010. It can be used not only on the campus but also outside the campus by connecting a remote desktop.
