西谷公孝研究室では、企業のサステナビリティ経営を、データを用いた統計的手法を用いて研究しています。サステナビリティ経営とは、社会環境問題を考慮した経営のことです。社会環境と経済は両立しないと長らく考えられてきた一方で、近年では両立するとの考えも広まっています。しかし、実際にはそれらは「どちらか」や「どちらも」といった単純な関係ではなく様々な要因が絡み合ってバランスが取られています。研究するにあたって、それら全体のパイを大きくするにはどうすべきかをいつも考えています。
